Resumes

Resume creation can be one of the more difficult aspects of the military transition and subsequent recruiting. As such, TViB members have put together some best practices, guidelines and general purpose gouge to help you with the process!

Tips and Tricks

Non-Veteran Review

Have trusted non-veterans review you resume to ensure that everything makes sense and that you are effectively communicating your experiences to all types of readers. Ensure you standardize formatting.

Remove Military Jargon

Structure each bullet so that someone who has never served can understand your impact.

Original Statement:
Led an infantry platoon where we were top blocked for our lethality during a WFX.

Revised Statement:
Led a 40-person team during a large-scale training exercise, achieving recognition for exceptional leadership and task proficiency, resulting in the unit being awarded as the top performer.

Quantify Experiences

Avoid simply providing a job summary. Seek to quantify your impact on your unit and the steps you took to generate that impact.
